Typically with Echopark the customer designs his guitar, but these inspiring Case Study guitars are fully designed and built from the ground up by Gabriel Currie, often with modifications along the way. It's starts with a concept then the vision is slowly materialized, like a sculptor or painter. These guitars remain one-of-a-kind, and are not repeated. This guitar is 2 years in the making.
Case study guitars have special appointments, extra attention to detail, and use truly rare, air-dried select woods and parts. It's been said that 80% of a guitar's sound, feel and vibe comes from the raw wood alone. It's becoming less of a secret that Gabe has some of the best air dried wood in the world, and he continues to amaze us from this locally found, highly prized old wood stash. It's one thing to have old wood in good shape, and it's another thing to have old wood that's particularly useful and applicable. It is indeed, all about the wood.
The Korina Echopark has been using comes from a private old collection that was milled approximately 40-60 years ago in Michigan and has been air drying the whole time. Probably the best Korina in the world. The flying V that is here is beyond words and provides next level feel & playability, it's astonishing.
At the factory, this white La Carne was referred to as the Ferrari...and I know what he means. I believe the only other reverse stiletto La Carne is the (unpainted Korina) one Joe Perry has used with Aerosmith.
Based on a 1960's Epiphone Wilshire, these guitars share almost nothing in common. Gabe's important, old world construction techniques are inspiring and set him apart.
