Rare, collectible, awesome 1981 limited edition Yamaha SG-2000. Guitar cost $1500 in 1981, which is approx $10,000 today. Includes vintage Yamaha hardshell case as well. I don't know if it's the original case, but it appears the same age as my other SG2000 cases from the late 1970's and is the case that came with guitar when it was shipped from Japan. Original Yamaha card is not included and belongs to another guitar. A friend of mine, who's one of the world's top collectors, turned me on to these Deep Purples. I went out and bought a few of them from Japan.
This guitar has been played, and for good reason. It needed a refret and was done by a veteran Los Angeles based luthier with Dunlop 6100. The guitar had low frets to begin with, it's better and more playable now than it was in 1981.
Same guitar used by John Frusciante the past few years. Same friend brought back the Purple SG2000 for him from Japan and he fell in love with it. There's a good reason so many people favor these to Gibson. Brilliant guitar, such unique sustain and overtones. Very solid & unique guitar which will excel at literally any style of music. Truly versatile.
